2018 Halloween University Class
@ National Halloween Show

Class Code: TC01
From Pen to Pandemonium: Advanced Scripting for Haunted Entertainment (P.D. Cacek)
Trish Cacek
Saturday May 19, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

As it has been said, most recently by Anthony Hopkins in the first season of the HBO’s series, WESTWORLD:
“Everyone loves a good story.”

And, regardless of the ghosties and ghoulies and walking dead who will shamble and menace and jump out at the crowds of unsuspecting visitors, above all else a Haunted House attraction should tell a good story. The winner of both a Bram Stoker and World Fantasy Award for her short horror fiction, P.D. Cacek has scripted storylines for a number of haunted house attractions and will take you through the process of taking an idea and developing it into a narrative.
The session will focus on the process of taking an idea and developing it into a full narrative and will include
• Character development
• Backstory
• Each room a chapter, each chapter a story
• The magic of three
• When and where to place the unexpected
• Making the audience a part of the story

There will also be time for discussion.
